India A produced a dominant all-round performance to clinch the tri-series title against Sri Lanka A, with teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stealing the spotlight. The explosive opener smashed a breathtaking 94 runs off only 29 deliveries, including 10 fours and 8 sixes, while also recording the fastest List A fifty in cricket history, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls.

Coming into the final after a mixed run of scores, Sooryavanshi responded in spectacular fashion. He attacked from the outset, sending his first five deliveries to the boundary and taking India A to 132 runs in only 8.5 overs. The young batter looked set for a record-breaking century before falling for 94 while attempting another big hit.

His explosive knock laid the foundation for India A’s imposing total of 377/9. While the innings slowed after his dismissal, valuable contributions from Tilak Varma (67) and Ruturaj Gaikwad helped stabilize the innings through an 84-run partnership. Later, Anukul Roy provided crucial late momentum with a quick-fire 39 off 15 balls, featuring four sixes, while Vipraj Nigam chipped in with an entertaining cameo of 27.

Despite appearing capable of crossing the 400-run mark, India A eventually settled for 377/9. Notably, Sooryavanshi alone contributed nearly 35% of the team’s total while he was at the crease.

Chasing a daunting target, Sri Lanka A needed a strong start but lost key wickets early. Fast bowler Yash Thakur removed the top-order trio of Niroshan Dickwella, Avishka Fernando, and Nuwanidu Fernando, putting the hosts under immediate pressure.

Middle-order batter Sadeera Samarawickrama scored a fighting 52, while Wanuja Sahan played an impressive knock of 62 off 69 balls to keep Sri Lanka A in contention. However, India A’s bowlers maintained control throughout the chase.

Anukul Roy once again made a decisive impact with the ball, claiming two important wickets, including the crucial dismissal of Vijaykanth Viyaskanth, which broke a dangerous seventh-wicket partnership. Meanwhile, Vipraj Nigam and Yash Thakur picked up three wickets each to ensure Sri Lanka A never gained lasting momentum.

Sri Lanka A were eventually bowled out for 311 in the 48th over, handing India A a convincing 66-run victory and the tri-series championship.

The match will be remembered for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary innings, which showcased his immense talent, fearless strokeplay, and ability to dominate quality bowling attacks. With performances like this, the young batter continues to strengthen his case for higher honours and could soon make the transition from promising prospect to international cricketer.
