The initiative aims to raise funds and awareness for UNICEF’s projects supporting children around the world.
As part of the activation, two-time BAFTA-nominated actor Nabhaan Rizwan will join former England cricketer Isa Guha in walking out with the Women’s T20 World Cup trophy before the start of the match. The event is expected to highlight the role cricket can play in driving positive social impact beyond the sport.
Speaking about the initiative, Rizwan expressed his excitement at being involved in a major Women’s T20 World Cup fixture while also supporting UNICEF’s efforts to improve the lives of children globally. Fans attending the match and those following from around the world will be encouraged to contribute to UNICEF’s charitable work.
The activation will also support UNICEF UK’s Making Childhood Unstoppable campaign, which focuses on helping children overcome challenges and access opportunities for a better future. Through the ICC’s Cricket 4 Good programme, the governing body continues to use cricket as a platform to promote meaningful social change and support vulnerable communities worldwide.
ICC officials emphasized that the Women’s T20 World Cup provides a unique opportunity to unite fans through a shared cause. The partnership with UNICEF reflects the organisation’s commitment to leveraging the global reach of cricket to make a lasting difference in children’s lives.
On the field, the match carries significant importance as both England and West Indies enter the contest unbeaten in the tournament. Having secured three victories each, the two teams are among the strongest performers in Group 2, with the winner of Wednesday’s encounter likely to take a major step towards finishing at the top of the standings and securing a favourable route to the knockout stages.
The England vs West Indies showdown at Lord’s is therefore set to deliver not only high-quality cricket but also an opportunity for fans to contribute to a meaningful global cause through UNICEF’s ongoing humanitarian efforts.
