Bangladesh national cricket team scripted another historic chapter in Test cricket by defeating Pakistan national cricket team by 78 runs in Sylhet to complete a dominant 2-0 series sweep.

The victory marks Bangladesh’s fourth consecutive Test series win – the first time they have achieved the feat in their history – after producing disciplined cricket across all ten days of the series.

Taijul Islam led the charge on the final day with a superb six-wicket haul, while Litton Das played a defining role earlier in the match with a brilliant 126 that rescued Bangladesh from a precarious position on day one.

Pakistan resumed the fifth morning on 316 for 7 chasing a daunting 437, with Mohammad Rizwan and Sajid Khan offering stubborn resistance for nearly an hour.

Bangladesh were made to wait nervously before Taijul finally broke through when Sajid edged to slip for 28. One over later, Rizwan’s valiant innings ended on 94 after he guided Shoriful Islam to gully, where Mehidy Hasan Miraz completed the catch.

Taijul then wrapped up the innings by dismissing Khurram Shahzad, with debutant Tanzid Hasan taking a well-judged catch in the deep.

Pakistan had shown fight during the chase through important partnerships. Captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam stitched together a 92-run stand after the early dismissals of openers Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal.

Babar made 47 before falling to Mehidy, while Masood scored a composed 71 before Taijul trapped him at short leg.

The biggest resistance came from Rizwan and Salman Agha, whose 134-run sixth-wicket partnership briefly threatened Bangladesh’s hopes. Both batters scored fluently, forcing the hosts to remain patient.

However, the second new ball changed the momentum as Taijul produced a sharp arm-ball to dismiss Agha for 71, leaving Rizwan with too much to do.

Despite Rizwan’s determined effort, Bangladesh eventually closed out another memorable Test victory and completed a landmark clean sweep over Pakistan.
