Rohit Sharma-led India will play Bangladesh in their only warm-up game ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, in West Indies and the USA in June. The tournament kicks off on June 1, soon after IPL 2024 concludes on May 26. India play their tournament-opener on June 5 versus Ireland in New York. Meanwhile, three teams Pakistan, England and New Zealand have opted against playing any warm-up games.
On Thursday (May 16), the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a total of 16 warm-up matches along with the venues. None of these games will have international status and teams will be allowed to use all their 15 members.
Pakistan and England are set to be involved in a four-match T20I series, from May 22-30, whereas New Zealand also played a five-match series in Pakistan in late April. Hence, these three sides have opted against playing in the warm-up round.

In the past, every team has played two warm-up matches before a men’s ICC event. Nonetheless, the ICC explained the change in plans this time around.
The ICC said, “In a departure from the previous cycle, teams can now choose to play up to two warm-up matches, depending on their arrival time at the event.”
