Australia pacer Spencer Johnson credits Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis after producing the most economical four-over spell in Australia’s men’s T20I history during a dominant 3-0 series sweep over Bangladesh.

Johnson registered figures of 2 for 6 from his four overs in the third T20I, setting a new record for the most economical four-over spell by an Australian men’s cricketer in T20 internationals. His outstanding display came just one day after he endured the most expensive over of his T20 career, conceding 22 runs in a single over.
Reflecting on his performance, Johnson said he was pleased to contribute to Australia’s victory and was satisfied with the way he responded after a difficult outing in the previous match.
“It is always nice to contribute to the team’s win. Bouncing back from the other day and wrapping up the series 3-0 was what mattered most,” Johnson said.
The left-arm pacer was far more disciplined with his lines and lengths in the third T20I, restricting Bangladesh’s top order during the powerplay and helping Australia maintain complete control throughout the contest.
Johnson also highlighted Australia’s ability to adapt to challenging conditions in Bangladesh. After losing the ODI series 2-1, the visitors responded strongly to dominate the T20I leg 3-0, showcasing their depth despite several first-choice players being unavailable.
Australia’s squad received significant contributions from debutants Joel Davies and Nikhil Chaudhary, both of whom impressed during the tour.
“There are a few players missing from the first-choice squad, but the guys who came in fitted into the team beautifully. Seeing them perform immediately has been very pleasing,” Johnson added.
The Australian quick further praised teammates Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis, whose consistent performances played a crucial role in the series victory. Zampa claimed seven wickets across the series, while Ellis picked up six. Matt Renshaw emerged as Australia’s leading wicket-taker on the Bangladesh tour with eight wickets.
“We have the best leg-spinner in the world in Adam Zampa, and Nathan Ellis has been outstanding for Australia in white-ball cricket. Bowling alongside players of that quality makes things easier,” Johnson said.
Looking ahead, Johnson believes Bangladesh will be a stronger challenge when they tour Australia for the upcoming Test series in Darwin and Mackay this August. He was particularly impressed by the pace and accuracy of Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana, who consistently touched speeds of 150kph during the series.
“Nahid Rana was bowling at 150kph, and whenever a bowler is doing that, it is difficult regardless of the surface. We saw how good Bangladesh can be in the ODI series, and I am looking forward to the Test matches in Australia. It should be a very competitive contest,” Johnson said.
Australia leave Bangladesh with renewed confidence after a dominant T20I campaign, while Bangladesh will look to regroup and build on the positives ahead of their upcoming tour of Australia.
