Bangladesh moved to 307/6 at tea on Day 3 in Sylhet, stretching their lead to 353 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim unbeaten on 90

Bangladesh continued to dominate the Sylhet Test against Pakistan, ending the second session of Day 3 in a commanding position at 307 for 6 in their second innings. With an overall lead of 353 runs and four wickets still in hand, the hosts tightened their grip on the match through another disciplined batting display led by Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das.

Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim stood tall once again for Bangladesh, remaining unbeaten on 90 at the tea interval after steering the innings through a challenging phase. Calm under pressure, Mushfiqur absorbed Pakistan’s disciplined bowling before accelerating later in the session with a series of attacking strokes.

The session also featured a brief heated exchange between Mushfiqur and Pakistan captain Shan Masood, who appeared to involve Taijul Islam in the conversation as well. Bangladesh, however, responded immediately in style when Taijul pulled Khurram Shahzad confidently for a boundary, drawing loud cheers from the Sylhet crowd.

Earlier after lunch, Litton Das brought up a fluent half-century, continuing his excellent form in the match. The milestone marked the third occasion in his Test career where he has scored both a century and a fifty in the same game — now the most such instances by a Bangladesh wicketkeeper, surpassing Mushfiqur’s previous record.

Litton enjoyed a slice of luck during his innings when Sajid Khan dropped a return catch off his own bowling with the batter on 58. Soon after Mushfiqur completed his fifty, Litton’s entertaining knock came to an end when he attempted an uppercut off Hasan Ali, only to find Saud Shakeel stationed at fly slip.

Pakistan managed another breakthrough when Khurram Shahzad, their standout bowler of the innings, cleaned up Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 19 to claim his fourth wicket. But Mushfiqur ensured Bangladesh maintained momentum by taking the attack to Pakistan’s bowlers, striking boundaries against both Sajid and Shahzad before the break.

Bangladesh had begun the day cautiously after losing Najmul Hossain Shanto early in the morning session. Shahzad trapped the left-hander lbw with a delivery that jagged back sharply, ending a slow innings of 15 from 46 deliveries.

Despite the early wicket, Bangladesh rebuilt steadily through Mushfiqur and Litton. The pair also survived a tense moment when a mix-up between them left Litton stranded midway down the pitch, but Babar Azam failed to hit the stumps with a direct throw.

Pakistan had earlier been bowled out for 232 in their first innings after Babar top-scored with 68, while Sajid Khan added valuable late runs with a flurry of sixes. Bangladesh’s bowling effort was led by Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam, who picked up three wickets each before the home side’s batters extended their advantage further on Day 3.
