The 25-year-old will be available for the next four matches, stepping in as cover for injured Ireland international Gaby Lewis.
Penna, although uncapped at the international level, brings strong domestic credentials from Australia. She previously featured in English county cricket with Essex Women, where she impressed with 313 runs and five wickets during last year’s Vitality Blast. Her allround ability is expected to add balance and depth to the Lancashire squad during a crucial phase of the tournament.
Having arrived in the UK on Thursday, Penna is set to make herself available immediately, starting with Lancashire’s upcoming fixture against Hampshire Women on Saturday. The defending champions will be hoping her inclusion helps maintain momentum in the competition.
Speaking about the opportunity, Penna expressed enthusiasm about joining Lancashire and contributing to the team’s campaign. She highlighted the strength of the squad and her eagerness to make an impact in the remaining matches.
Lancashire’s director of women’s cricket, David Thorley, praised Penna’s signing, noting her proven performances in domestic cricket and previous experience in England. He emphasized that her competitiveness and allround skills make her a valuable addition during this important stretch of fixtures ahead of the Vitality Blast.
Meanwhile, Lewis had started the season strongly, scoring a century in the opening match—mirroring her performance in last year’s One-Day Cup final. However, after featuring in just one more game, she was forced to return home due to injury, creating the need for a temporary replacement.
With Penna now in the squad, Lancashire will look to continue their title defence with renewed strength and consistency in the upcoming matches.
