Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis to boost Lucknow Super Giants for crucial second half, while Anrich Nortje departs under unclear circumstances
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Australian batter Josh Inglis is set to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of their key Indian Premier League 2026 fixture against Mumbai Indians on May 4. Inglis, who missed the first half of the season due to his wedding commitments, tied the knot on April 18 and is expected to arrive in India after a short break.
The dynamic wicketkeeper-batter was picked up by LSG for INR 8.6 crore in the 2026 IPL auction despite his partial unavailability. Inglis had an impressive previous season with Punjab Kings, scoring 278 runs at a blistering strike rate of 162.57, making him a valuable addition for LSG’s batting lineup.
If available from May 4, Inglis could feature in the final six league matches, potentially reshaping the team combination. Currently, LSG have relied on overseas stars like Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran. However, Pooran has struggled this season, managing just 51 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 80, raising concerns over his form.
The franchise has also experimented with South African all-rounder George Linde, who has featured in two of the last three matches, indicating a flexible overseas strategy.
Meanwhile, South African pacer Anrich Nortje exited the LSG camp last week, with no official reason disclosed. Nortje had limited impact this season, playing only one game against Delhi Capitals on April 1, where he went wicketless, conceding 39 runs in four overs.
Currently placed eighth on the points table with two wins from six matches, LSG will look to turn their campaign around. Their upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals on April 22 will be crucial in building momentum before Inglis joins the squad.
