The latest ICC rankings have brought major changes across the T20I and Test formats, with India’s Ishan Kishan climbing to the No. 1 spot among T20I batters and Jasprit Bumrah reclaiming the top position in the Test bowling rankings. Australia’s Travis Head also moved to the summit of the Test batting rankings after England’s Joe Root slipped to third following a disappointing series against New Zealand.

Ishan Kishan Becomes ICC No. 1 T20I Batter

Ishan Kishan has replaced fellow Indian opener Abhishek Sharma as the world’s No. 1 T20I batter, becoming only the fourth Indian men’s cricketer to achieve the feat after Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma.

Kishan’s rise has been remarkable since his return to India’s T20I setup in January after more than two years away from the side. Brilliant knocks of 76 and 103 against New Zealand earned him a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad, where he finished as the tournament’s fourth-highest run-scorer with 317 runs, playing a key role in India’s successful title defence.

Shivam Dube Climbs in T20I All-Rounder Rankings

India all-rounder Shivam Dube also enjoyed a significant rise in the ICC T20I rankings, moving up three places to No. 7 among all-rounders.

Despite India’s 2-0 series defeat to Ireland, Dube impressed with both bat and ball, scoring 45 runs and claiming three wickets at an average of 14.33 while maintaining an economy rate of just 7.16.

Travis Head Replaces Joe Root as No. 1 Test Batter

Australia’s Travis Head has become the new No. 1 Test batter after England star Joe Root dropped to third in the rankings. Root managed only 171 runs at an average of 28.50 during England’s three-Test series against New Zealand.

Harry Brook retained the No. 2 spot and sits just one rating point behind Head, keeping the race for the top position extremely close.

New Zealand and England Batters Make Big Gains

Several players from the England-New Zealand Test series made significant progress in the batting rankings.

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell climbed to 11th, Devon Conway moved to 15th, and Tom Latham rose to 31st after impressive performances. England opener Ben Duckett advanced to 14th following his century at Trent Bridge.

Rachin Ravindra also continued his excellent form, scoring 94 in the second innings at Trent Bridge after making 76 at The Oval. His performances lifted him two places to No. 7 in the Test batting rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah Returns as World No. 1 Test Bowler

India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the No. 1 ranking among Test bowlers after New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry missed the Trent Bridge Test due to injury.

Henry slipped to second place, allowing Bumrah to regain the top position and further cement his reputation as one of the world’s premier fast bowlers.

Ben Stokes Ends Career Among Elite Test All-Rounders

Recently retired England captain Ben Stokes concluded his international career ranked No. 3 among Test all-rounders.

Stokes climbed two places after producing an outstanding performance at Trent Bridge, where he claimed six wickets, including figures of 4 for 70 in New Zealand’s first innings.

Shamar Joseph, Kemar Roach and Blessing Muzarabani Rise

The latest ICC Test rankings also rewarded standout performers from other recent Test matches.

West Indies fast bowlers Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach made impressive gains after their team’s victory over Sri Lanka, climbing to 14th and 17th respectively among Test bowlers.

Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani also continued his rise, moving up to 19th after starring in Zimbabwe’s historic Test win over Bangladesh, their biggest victory in the longest format.

With several international series concluding and more major tournaments approaching, the ICC rankings continue to reflect the outstanding performances of cricket’s biggest stars, with Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Travis Head leading the way in their respective categories.
