Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Mayank Yadav lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 once again with his extreme pace against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 2. By the time Yadav was done with his spell of four overs, RCB was done in the chase and lost the game by 28 runs.
Yadav finished with figures of 3/14 – winning his second consecutive Player of the Match award. He is now the first player in IPL history to win consecutive Player of the Match awards in his first two games.

During the match, Yadav also bowled the fastest delivery of the season at 156.7 kmph, improving on his record of 155.8 kmph from the previous match. Yadav’s fastest delivery of the season is now fourth on the list of all-time fastest deliveries of the league. Ahead of him are Shaun Tait (157.7 kmph in IPL 2011), Lockie Ferguson (157.3 in IPL 2022) and Umrah Malik (157 kmph in IPL 2022).
Yadav dismissed Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar in the match. His wicket of Green was the highlight as he beat the Aussie by sheer pace to rattle his off stump after conceding a four on the previous delivery. Have a look at the wicket below:
Yadav now has six wickets in two games and stands behind CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman (seven wickets in three games) on the list of most wickets taken this season.
As for the match, LSG batted first and scored a decent total of 181/5 in 20 overs. For Lucknow, Quinton de Kock top-scored with 56-ball 81 while Nicholas Pooran hit an unbeaten 21-ball 40. Apart from them, Marcus Stoinis managed 15-ball 24 while skipper KL Rahul chipped in with 14-ball 20.
RCB had started the chase well, scoring 40 in 4.1 over before Virat Kohli was dismissed after scoring 22 off 16. It went all downhill for them from that point and they were eventually bowled out for 153 in 19.4 overs.
With their second win in three games, LSG now are fourth on the 10-team points table with four points. RCB, on the other hand, are ninth with only two points after one win and three losses in four games.
