Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler Umesh Yadav entered the record books with the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 10. Umesh is now the fifth Indian pacer to take 200 or more wickets in all T20s. He has played for multiple IPL franchises during his career apart from playing for India national team and Vidarbha in domestic circuit.
Yadav now has exact 200 wickets in 191 matches and ahead of him are Harshal Patel with 215 wickets, Jaydev Unadkat with 221 wickets, Jasprit Bumrah with 265 wickets, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 291 wickets in all T20s. Umesh has taken these wickets at a strike rate of 19.7 and an economy of 8.32. His best is 5/18 in all T20s and has taken five-wicket haul two times.

Umesh has played for Delhi Capitals (erstwhile Delhi Daredevils), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR),and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) apart from GT in the IPL. He has 143 wickets in the cash-rich league after making his debut in 2010. His best season in IPL was in 2018 when he picked 20 wickets in 14 matches.
Overall, Umesh has an economy of 8.44 and a strike rate of 21 in 147 IPL matches, He also has taken three four-wicket hauls with a best of 4/23.
For India, he has played nine T20Is and has taken 12 wickets. His rest wickets came for Vidarbha while playing in the domestic T20 tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.
In IPL, Umesh currently is the fifth highest wicket-taking pace bowler overall behind Dwayne Bravo (183 wickets), Bhuvneshwar (173 wickets), Lasith Malinga (170 wickets), Jasprit Bumrah (150 wickets). He is currently third on the list of both, active pacers with most wickets and Indian pacers with most wickets (overall) in the IPL behind Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah.
