Tournament moves to an earlier window to avoid clash with global T20 leagues; final set to be held in Dubai

The fifth season of the International League T20 (ILT20) is set to take place from November 22 to December 20, 2026, marking a shift to an even earlier window compared to previous editions. The tournament will feature 34 matches, including 30 league-stage games and four playoff fixtures.

Matches will be hosted across the UAE’s premier cricket venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, with the final scheduled to be played in Dubai, continuing the tradition from past seasons.

This scheduling adjustment comes after the league was previously moved from its original January-February slot to December-January. The earlier November-December window aims to avoid overlaps with other major T20 leagues, including SA20, which is expected to begin after January 10.

ILT20 CEO David White expressed optimism about the upcoming season, citing the success of the previous edition. He highlighted strong broadcast viewership, growing fan engagement, and participation from top international T20 stars as key factors behind the league’s rapid growth.

The league has also strengthened its global footprint through strategic partnerships with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation and Kuwait Cricket. Development tournaments are planned in both countries ahead of Season 5 to further expand the league’s influence.

An auction will be held prior to the season, allowing all six franchises to finalize their squads. The participating teams include defending champions Desert Vipers, along with Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, Dubai Capitals, Sharjah Warriorz, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.

Among these, Desert Vipers, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Dubai Capitals have previously lifted the ILT20 trophy, adding further excitement and competition to the upcoming season.
