Hyderabad Kingsmen continued their impressive run in PSL 2026 with a hard-fought five-wicket win over Rawalpindiz in a low-scoring encounter on a challenging Karachi surface. A disciplined bowling effort led by Hunain Shah and Ali restricted Rawalpindiz to just 121, before crucial knocks from Marnus Labuschagne, Kusal Perera, and Irfan Khan guided Kingsmen home with 21 balls to spare.

With this victory, Kingsmen climbed to fourth place in the eight-team points table, boosting their playoff hopes. In contrast, Rawalpindiz remained rooted at the bottom, still searching for their first win after six matches and struggling with a poor net run rate.

Bowlers Dominate on Spin-Friendly Karachi Track

On a pitch that offered grip and assistance to spinners, Kingsmen’s bowlers executed their plans to perfection. Hunain Shah and Ali were the standout performers, picking up three wickets each while maintaining tight control over the scoring rate. Their disciplined lengths and clever variations ensured Rawalpindiz never gained momentum.

The pressure started early, as a mix of spin and pace choked the opposition in the powerplay. Rawalpindiz managed just 24 runs in the first six overs — the lowest powerplay total of the season. The middle overs saw further slowdown, with the team crawling to 50 in 11.1 overs, the slowest scoring phase in PSL 2026 so far.

Despite a brief resistance, Rawalpindiz failed to accelerate, finishing with a modest total that always looked below par on a tricky surface.

Kingsmen Survive Early Collapse in Chase

The chase was far from straightforward for Hyderabad Kingsmen. Rawalpindiz bowlers, led by Asif Afridi and Mohammad Amir, made early inroads to leave Kingsmen struggling at 69 for five. Afridi’s economical spell in the powerplay, including a wicket maiden, put the pressure firmly on the batting side.

Marnus Labuschagne held the innings together with a composed 32 off 21 balls before falling at a crucial juncture. The situation worsened when Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck, putting Kingsmen in a precarious position.

Perera and Irfan Seal the Deal

However, Kusal Perera and Irfan Khan turned the game around with a calm and calculated unbeaten partnership of 54 runs. With no significant scoreboard pressure, the duo focused on rotating strike and building momentum.

They patiently navigated the difficult phase, exploiting gaps and gradually increasing the tempo. Once settled, both batters found boundaries to close out the chase comfortably, showcasing maturity and match awareness.

Kingsmen Eye Playoffs as Momentum Builds

Hyderabad Kingsmen’s ability to adapt to Karachi conditions has become a defining factor in their recent success. Their bowlers have consistently delivered, while the middle order has stepped up under pressure.

The emergence of young talents like Irfan Khan and Hunain Shah adds further depth and confidence to the squad. As the tournament progresses, Kingsmen look well-positioned to push for a playoff spot, while Rawalpindiz face an uphill battle to revive their campaign.
