Hotel bed in which Cristiano Ronaldo slept in Slovenia to be auctioned. Details here

A hotel bed in Slovenia where Cristiano Ronaldo slept during Portugal’s recent friendly match will be going under the hammer, with the bidding opening at $5,300.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was part of the Portuguese squad which had stayed at the Grand Plaza Hotel during a visit to Ljubljana. The hotel management has now collaborated with media company POP TV to announce the auction of Ronaldo’s bed, with all the proceeds going to charity.

“Since this was a rather special and unique event, we decided to prepare a unique surprise in which all fans can participate. We do not know when we will have the opportunity to host Ronaldo in Slovenia again,” read the statement.

At a special auction, we will offer the bed in which the star Cristiano Ronaldo slept at our place. We wish everyone good luck and successful participation in the event,” it added.

Although the bidding is starting at a modest price, the hotel management is hopeful that the craze for Ronaldo will lead to a skyrocketing sum. Despite being in Slovenian capital, not many fans could get close to Ronaldo but the opportunity to snatch a CR7-themed memorabilia could be exciting for them.

Notably, this is not the first instance when memorabilia attached to the Portuguese superstar has attracted such attention. After Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia post his tumultuous second stint with Manchester United, the shirt that he wore in the final game for the Red Devils against Aston Villa, fetched over $48,000.

Ronald returns to Portuguese side

Ronaldo had returned to the Portugal squad for the friendly after being rested for the game against Sweden. However, Portugal succumbed to a 0-2 defeat as Robert Martinez suffered his first loss as the coach of the national team.

Ronaldo could be seen leaving the pitch angry whilst mouthing the referee for not giving two supposed clear penalties. Despite Ronaldo starting, Portugal were played off the field by the resolute Slovenia side. The 2016 Euro champions conceded twice in the second half to end the international break on a sour note.

After the match, Ronaldo returned to his club side Al-Nassr and scored a hattrick over the weekend in a 5-1 victory against Al-Tai.
