Bangladesh have received a major boost ahead of their ODI tour of Zimbabwe, with Litton Das declared fit and named in the 15-member squad for the three-match series starting next month. The wicketkeeper-batter had suffered a calf injury on his left leg, forcing him to miss the recent T20I series against Australia and the upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe. His return adds experience and stability to Bangladesh’s batting lineup.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz also returns to the ODI squad after missing the third match against Australia due to a concussion. Having already been rested from the Test squad travelling to Harare, Mehidy is fully fit and ready to lead the team in the 50-over format as Bangladesh aim to continue their winning momentum.

Bangladesh have largely retained the same squad that defeated Australia 2-1 in the ODI series, with Mahedi Hasan being the only player to miss out after serving as Mehidy’s replacement in the final ODI. The pace attack will once again be spearheaded by Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana, with Taskin and Nahid also rested from the one-off Test to stay fresh for the ODI series.

The batting unit remains strong, with vice-captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy expected to play key roles in the middle order. Mosaddek Hossain enters the series with plenty of confidence after making a memorable comeback against Australia, where he ended a four-year ODI absence by winning the Player of the Series award.

Interestingly, Mosaddek’s previous ODI appearance before his comeback also came against Zimbabwe during Bangladesh’s 2-1 series defeat in August 2022. That result ended Bangladesh’s nine-year dominance over Zimbabwe in bilateral ODI series. Overall, Bangladesh have enjoyed a successful record against Zimbabwe, although winning ODI series on Zimbabwean soil has often proved challenging.

The ODI series will be played in Harare on July 6, 9, and 11, following the conclusion of the one-off Test. Both teams will then face each other in a three-match T20I series to complete the tour.
