The Indian Premier League has officially announced a venue swap for both fixtures between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2026 season due to municipal corporation elections in Gujarat.

Originally, the first match between CSK and GT was scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on April 26 as a 3:30 PM afternoon game. However, this match will now be played in Chennai at the same time. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture, initially planned for May 21 in Chennai at 7:30 PM, has been shifted to Ahmedabad and will be played as an evening encounter.

According to the IPL governing body, the decision was taken due to “municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat” scheduled on April 26, making it logistically challenging to host a high-profile match on that date.

Looking at current form, Gujarat Titans sit fifth on the points table with two wins and two losses from four matches. In contrast, Chennai Super Kings are struggling in ninth place, having managed just one win so far this season. Historically, the rivalry between the two teams has been evenly balanced, with both sides winning four matches each out of their eight IPL encounters.

In their most recent meeting during IPL 2025, CSK registered a dominant 63-run victory over GT in Ahmedabad, adding more anticipation to their upcoming clashes.

Before facing each other, both teams will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next fixtures. CSK are set to host KKR, while GT will take on KKR in Ahmedabad on April 17.

With the venues now swapped, fans in both Chennai and Ahmedabad can look forward to high-voltage encounters as the IPL 2026 season continues.
