Riley Meredith earns surprise ODI recall in Dhaka, while Soumya Sarkar returns to Bangladesh’s opening lineup for the second ODI.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Australia captain Josh Inglis won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the second ODI in Dhaka, making a significant change to the playing XI with the inclusion of fast bowler Riley Meredith.
Meredith’s selection comes as a surprise, with the pacer set to play his first One-Day International in five years. Initially part of Australia’s T20I squad for the Bangladesh tour, Meredith was added to the ODI squad on the morning of the match and immediately drafted into the playing XI.
Australia have replaced ODI debutant Liam Scott with Meredith for the crucial encounter. Another notable move sees Marnus Labuschagne, who has struggled for runs in recent matches, listed to bat at No. 7 in an effort to strengthen the middle order.
The visitors will be looking to build on their performance from the first ODI, although conditions differ significantly as the match is being played on a different pitch from the series opener, where Inglis had chosen to bowl first after winning the toss.
Bangladesh have also made a key change, bringing experienced left-hander Soumya Sarkar back into the side as an opener in place of Saif Hassan, who failed to make a significant impact in the previous matches.
With both teams making strategic adjustments, the second ODI promises to be an exciting contest as Australia seek to continue their momentum and Bangladesh aim to level the series on home soil.
