Australia A women and Australia U19 men will also play multi-format series across India during September and October 2026
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Australia’s preparations for the highly anticipated 2027 Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin early as Australia A are set to tour India in September and October 2026 for a multi-format series against India A. The tour, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will feature two four-day matches and three one-day games in Puducherry.
The series is expected to play a crucial role in helping several fringe Australian Test players adapt to Indian conditions ahead of the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting in January 2027 in Nagpur. Australia A previously toured India in 2025, where young talents such as Sam Konstas, Nathan McSweeney, Todd Murphy and Cooper Connolly gained valuable red-ball experience in subcontinental conditions.
Konstas impressed with a century in the opening match, while McSweeney stood out with scores of 74 and 85 not out despite Australia A suffering a defeat. Indian stars Mohammed Siraj and KL Rahul also made strong impacts during that series.
The upcoming Australia A men’s tour will begin with the first four-day match in Puducherry from September 22 to 25, followed by the second red-ball fixture from September 29 to October 2. The teams will then contest three 50-over matches on October 6, 9 and 11.
The tour schedule overlaps with Australia’s international commitments in Zimbabwe and South Africa, meaning selectors may rotate specialist players depending on conditions and workloads. Australia have recently enjoyed success in the subcontinent by fielding spin-heavy attacks, including during their tours of India and Sri Lanka, where they often played three frontline spinners alongside one fast bowler.
Players like Travis Head have also adapted their roles successfully in Asian conditions, while Connolly remains a strong contender for a spin-bowling allrounder role in the 2027 Test series.
Meanwhile, Australia A women will return to India for a multi-format tour for the first time since 2018. The series will include two T20 matches in Mohali, followed by three one-day games and a four-day match in Dharamshala. The tour is expected to provide opportunities for emerging Australian players to push for selection ahead of Australia’s senior women’s tour of India in 2027-28.
Australia’s Under-19 men’s team will also travel to India for a competitive youth series against the reigning U19 World Cup champions. The matches will be held in Rajkot and Ahmedabad. One of the key attractions could be Indian teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who remains eligible for the series after making headlines during Australia’s previous U19 tour of India.
