DC vs GG Eliminator – Jemimah Rodrigues opts to field; both teams name unchanged XIs after Giants’ league-stage dominance
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Jemimah Rodrigues won the toss and elected to bowl first in the WPL 2026 Eliminator against Gujarat Giants (GG) at Vadodara on Monday. Both teams went in with unchanged playing XIs for the high-stakes knockout clash.
After the toss, Gujarat Giants skipper Ashleigh Gardner said she was comfortable batting first, pointing out that all five of GG’s victories this season have come while setting a target. Rodrigues, on the other hand, backed her side’s chasing ability, stating that “any target looks chaseable” on the surface, which is being used for the first time this season.
Gujarat Giants finished second on the WPL 2026 points table and enter the Eliminator on the back of a three-match winning streak. Delhi Capitals secured their spot after winning three of their last four matches, overtaking Mumbai Indians to finish third.
This match marks DC’s first appearance in an Eliminator, having previously advanced directly to the final by topping the league table in earlier seasons. Gujarat Giants, meanwhile, are playing their second consecutive Eliminator, having lost to Mumbai Indians at the same stage last season.
During the pitch report, former India captain Mithali Raj described the surface as “dry underneath” with some bounce available, while also calling it a “good track to bat on”.
Notably, Gujarat Giants hold a psychological edge, having defeated Delhi Capitals in both league-stage encounters earlier in the tournament.
