Georgia Voll smashes 52-ball hundred with six sixes as Australia dominate before rain seals comprehensive victory
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Australia sealed a commanding 3-0 T20I series whitewash over West Indies, thanks to a sensational maiden century from Georgia Voll. The young opener delivered a power-packed performance, reaching her hundred in just 52 balls and leading Australia to a formidable total of 211 — their highest T20I score since 2023 and fifth-highest overall.
Voll’s innings was the highlight of the match, featuring six towering sixes and a blend of controlled aggression and clean hitting. She raced to her half-century in just 28 deliveries and accelerated further to reach her milestone, underlining her growing importance at the top of Australia’s batting order in the post-Alyssa Healy era. Her century also places her among elite company, joining Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Healy as Australian women’s T20I centurions.
Australia capitalized on favorable batting conditions early, with Voll dominating the powerplay. Her ability to hit straight and target the leg side proved decisive, as she took on both pace and spin with confidence. Despite a half-chance early in her innings, she remained in control, dispatching bowlers like Afy Fletcher, Deandra Dottin, and Zaida James to all parts of the ground.
While Voll stole the spotlight, Australia received late contributions from Nicola Carey and Sophie Molineux. Carey stabilized the innings after a brief middle-order wobble, and Molineux added a quickfire cameo, smashing boundaries in the final overs to push the total past 200.
However, not everything went perfectly for Australia. Phoebe Litchfield failed to convert another promising start, while vice-captain Tahlia McGrath struggled for timing and was dismissed cheaply. Ellyse Perry also fell without making a major impact, briefly raising concerns of a slowdown before the lower order stepped up.
In response, West Indies once again faltered in the powerplay, losing early wickets and falling well behind the required rate. Megan Schutt struck early, while Lucy Hamilton impressed by claiming her maiden T20I wicket with a well-executed slower ball. Australia even experimented with Voll’s off-spin during the innings, showcasing their depth and flexibility.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews showed glimpses of resistance but failed to replicate her past heroics. Ellyse Perry added to the pressure by picking up her first T20I wicket since 2024, further denting the chase.
With West Indies struggling significantly behind the DLS target, rain interrupted play and effectively ended the contest, handing Australia a dominant victory and a clean sweep of the series.
The focus now shifts to the ODI leg of the tour, with both teams set to face off in a three-match series in St Kitts starting Friday.
