The fifth delivery by Starc was a dot ball before he bowled a wide. Rohit hit last ball also for a six to finish the 29-run over. Have a look at the video below:

The Indian skipper reached his fifty in the fifth over after a minute of rain delay. He reached the milestone in 19 balls – the fourth fastest fifty by a batter in T20 World Cup and third fastest by an Indian.

Only Yuvraj Singh (12 balls in 2007) and KL Rahul (18 balls in 2021) have hit faster fifties than Rohit for India in T20 World Cups.

Rohit 51 runs in the powerplay are also the third most for a batter in the T20 World Cups. Ahead of the Indian skipper are Ireland’s Stephen Myburgh (57 runs in 2014) and Bangladesh’s Litton Das (56 runs in 2022).

Thanks to Rohit, India finished the powerplay with 60 runs on board despite Virat Kohli getting out for a duck once again in the tournament.

Starc eventually dismissed Sharma in the 12th over of the innings on a personal score of 92 off just 41 balls. Rohit hit eight sixes in total in his innings – the most for an Indian in a T20 World Cup match.

After Rohit’s dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 16), Shivam Dube (28 off 22) and Hardik Pandya (27 off 17 not out) kept the Indian innings going.

The 2007 World Cup winners eventually finished with a huge total of 205/5 in 20 overs.
