T20 WC: PCB chief announces WHOPPING amount for each Pakistan player if Men in Green emerge victorious

Barely weeks away, the T20 World Cup 2024 edition is in focus now. Pakistan have a few more games to play before showing up at the mega event, to be co-hosted by West Indies and USA in June. Ahead of the showpiece tournament, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi provided the players with extra motivation by announcing a mammoth amount for each of them if the Men in Green emerge victorious in the T20 WC. Babar Azam-led Pakistan are placed in Group A along with arch-rivals India, USA, Canada and Ireland.

Before Pakistan’s upcoming T20Is versus Ireland and England, PCB posted on social media, “Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi announced to give 100,000 dollars prize to every player for winning the T20 World Cup.”

‘We hope that you will raise the Pakistani flag this time’

Naqvi also shared some words of encouragement for the players during a recent meet and said, as quoted by Geo News, “Don’t care about anyone. Play only for Pakistan. All the players stand united […] showcase teamwork and god willing, victory will be yours. The nation has a lot of expectations from you […] we hope that you will raise the Pakistani flag this time.”

At present, the Babar-led Pakistan side are gearing up for their away T20Is versus Ireland and England. They first play three T20Is versus Ireland, in Dublin, from May 10-14 before touring England for four T20Is from May 22-30. Their final T20 WC squad will be announced following the two series.
