“It’s not necessary to sell if we buy some players. We’re assessing the squad like always. We had a conversation with the owners and sporting directors yesterday and today and we’re looking, like all teams, for options, opportunities,” said Pochettino.
The Argentine coach said he’s happy with the squad while talking about the possibility of signing a striker. Nicolas Jackson will be leaving the club to play the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, which could force Chelsea to dip in the transfer market for a striker.
“If something appears, we will announce it. At the moment we are assessing and working normally. I am very positive and happy with the squad. We have different players that can play in the striker position and we need our second line offensive players to help the team score goals and help to win games,” Pochettino added.
Chelsea started the new year off in brilliant fashion, netting four goals past Preston in their win in the third round of the FA Cup. Following their Carabao Cup semi-final, Chelsea will take on Fulham in the Premier League on January 13. The Blues are placed 10th in the Premier league, winning just eight on their 20 matches.
