The hosts named a three-pronged seam unit featuring Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana, who comes into the side to strengthen the fast-bowling department. Bangladesh also made a change in their batting order, bringing in Tanzid Hasan in place of Soumya Sarkar at the top. Litton Das and Afif Hossain have been positioned in the middle order to add stability and finishing ability.
Pakistan, meanwhile, made headlines by handing ODI debuts to four players – Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Shamyl Hussain and Abdul Samad. It marks only the second instance since 1980 that Pakistan have fielded four debutants in an ODI match, signalling a clear push toward fresh talent and squad rebuilding.
The visitors will be led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, while Mohammad Rizwan takes the wicketkeeping duties. Pakistan have gone with Abrar Ahmed as their sole specialist spinner, supported by an all-round pace attack including Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim.
With both teams making notable selection decisions, the opening ODI promises an intriguing contest as Bangladesh aim to exploit home conditions and Pakistan’s young lineup looks to make an immediate impact.
