His performances played a key role in Queensland’s strong campaign and included centuries against both finalists — Tasmania cricket team and New South Wales cricket team — who will meet in the **Dean Jones Trophy final in Hobart next week.
With his incredible run of centuries, Labuschagne joined an elite list of players to score four hundreds in a single one-day domestic season, alongside Phil Jaques, Brad Hodge and Daniel Hughes.
In addition to his batting heroics, Labuschagne also made valuable contributions with the ball. He claimed 2 for 26 against New South Wales, further highlighting his all-round impact during the season. His other centuries came against the Victoria cricket team and South Australia cricket team.
Labuschagne finished the season with 20 votes, narrowly edging out Kurtis Patterson, who secured 19 votes after scoring three centuries and two half-centuries in seven innings for New South Wales.
Beau Webster of Tasmania finished third with 12 votes, while his teammate Tim Ward and Joel Curtis of Western Australia cricket team shared fourth place with 10 votes each.
The voting system for the award is decided by the on-field umpires, who allocate 3-2-1 votes after each match. Players can receive a maximum of six votes per game, a change from previous seasons when both umpires submitted a joint vote.
Labuschagne’s dominant campaign has further strengthened his reputation as one of Australia’s most consistent performers in domestic cricket and highlights his ability to deliver match-winning performances across formats.
