South Africa allrounder Marizanne Kapp will miss the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan due to illness, with Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirming that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure. Kapp reportedly experienced discomfort shortly after completing her spell in the third T20I in Benoni. Following medical assessments, the Proteas Women management opted to rest the experienced campaigner to ensure her full recovery ahead of future international commitments.

Kapp featured in the second and third T20Is of the recently concluded series, opening the bowling in both matches and delivering three overs each. She scored 9 runs in the second game but did not get the opportunity to bat in the third T20I, where South Africa were bowled out for 91 while chasing a target of 145. Her absence in the ODI series is viewed as a strategic and health-focused decision rather than a long-term concern.

In a significant development for South African women’s cricket, 18-year-old bowling allrounder Fay Cowling has received her maiden international call-up. Cowling has previously represented South Africa Under-19 and plays domestic cricket for the Lions. She was also part of last month’s national training camp in Tshwane, where she impressed selectors with her performances. Her inclusion offers a fresh opportunity for the young allrounder to showcase her talent on the international stage.

The three-match ODI series between South Africa Women and Pakistan Women will commence on February 22 in Bloemfontein, followed by matches on February 25 in Centurion and March 1 in Durban. South Africa enter the ODI leg with momentum, having secured a 2-1 victory in the T20I series.
