Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have received a timely boost ahead of their IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday, with veteran allrounder Sunil Narine returning to full fitness. However, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy remains doubtful due to a hand injury.

Narine, KKR’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the IPL, had missed the previous game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) due to an abdominal issue. His absence was felt as KKR played without their two frontline spinners for the first time since IPL 2019. The match eventually ended in a washout, giving KKR their first point of the season.

The West Indies star has since resumed training and was seen both batting and bowling in the nets over the last two days. His availability is expected to significantly strengthen KKR’s bowling attack, which has struggled with injuries and lack of experience this season.

On the other hand, Varun Chakravarthy’s participation remains uncertain. The spinner suffered an injury to the little finger on his left hand while fielding against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although he bowled his full quota during a recent training session, he was seen with heavy taping on his hand, and the franchise has not provided a clear timeline for his return.

KKR may also benefit from the addition of Cameron Green’s bowling services going forward. While the Australian allrounder has been active in training, he has yet to bowl in IPL 2026 due to workload management protocols coordinated with Cricket Australia. Reports suggest he could start contributing with the ball from the LSG fixture onwards.

With just one point from three matches, KKR will be eager to turn their campaign around. Narine’s return could play a crucial role as they look to secure their first win of the season against LSG at Eden Gardens.
