CSK soon won the game and Dhoni stayed unbeaten on 1 off three balls. This was CSK’s third win overall in the ongoing season and all of them have come at home.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/18 in four overs restricted KKR at just 137/9 in 20 overs despite having an above-par powerplay. Chasing the total, CSK were never in trouble as they reached the target in 17.4 overs with seven wickets in hand. For Chennai, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad eventually hit form and top scored with unbeaten 67 off 58 balls.

After the match, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer agreed to misreading the pitch which proved to be costly in the end.

“I personally feel we fell short in terms of assessing the wicket,” Iyer said after the loss. The KKR skipper also said that CSK knew the conditions of their home ground well and they bowled exactly according to the plan.

This was KKR’s first loss of the season after winning three games on the trot.
