Delhi Capitals (DC) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday (Apr 17) with a bang by taking four wickets inside the powerplay. The wickets also involved a sensational run-out and an athletic catch by skipper Rishabh Pant as well.
It started with the wicket of GT skipper Shubman Gill who was sent back by DC’s Ishant Sharma in the second over of the innings.

Wriddhiman Saha was next to go after he chopped on a ball by Mukesh Kumar onto the stumps. Sai Sudharsan was then caught short by Sumit Kumar while trying to steal a single. Ishant then returned to take the wicket of David Miller who was caught behind brilliantly by Pant. Have a look at the video below:
By the time powerplay ended, GT were 30/4 – their one of the lowest powerplay totals. Everything went downhill from there on for GT as they eventually got all-out for 89 in 17.4 overs.
After the powerplay, Pant brought on brought on part-time Tristan Stubbs to bowl the ninth over and he obliged with two wickets, thanks to stumpings by the DC skipper. Rashid Khan’s 24-ball 31 then took GT to 88 in the 18th over but his dismissal brought the end of the innings two balls later.
DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk was fiery in the start of the 90-run chase, scoring 20 off 10 before getting out on the last ball of the second over. Prithvi Shaw was the next to fall for a six-ball seven but it had no affect on scoring. Abhishek Porel (15 off 7) and Shai Hope (19 off 10) then added 34 runs in 14 balls as DC effectively closed the game.
Pant (16 off 11) and Sumit Kumar (9 off 9) were at the crease as DC registered a thumping win by six wickets.
