Australian star Pat Cummins is all set for a new stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he prepares for his debut for Srunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday (Mar 23). SRH will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens where Cummins faces his former side. However, he will also cross paths with Mitchell Starc with whom he has won multiple accolades including the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and the World Test Championship (WTC). However, Saturday’s clash will be special as they both will be in opposite dugouts.

Cummins-Starc ready to head-to-head

“I will say this: hopefully, I don’t have to face Starc because that means our batters have done quite well. It’s funny… it’s one of the beauties of the IPL; I have been playing with Starcy for 15 years, [and] I can’t remember another game where I have played against him. Also, it’s going to be weird looking across and seeing him in the other dugout,” Cummins said in the pre-match press conference.

After being signed for a whopping $2.5 million by SRH, Cummins was awarded the captaincy ahead of Aiden Markram and will now have a point to prove. SRH finished rock-bottom and will be ready to make amends for this term. They have a new set of coaching staff which will be another key factor if they are to turn their fortunes.

“Yeah, being an opposition captain, seeing how we go about playing him will be an interesting part of tomorrow. But we’re both bowlers, so I am not sure we’ll cross [paths] too much,” Cummins added.

The contest at the Eden Gardens will be the 26th meeting between both the sides with KKR having 16 wins. While SRH has won nine times in the fixture but both have endured a tough couple of campaigns in the IPL.
