Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey has predicted that MS Dhoni will be hitting the winning six to finish off Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals on March 31. Hussey made the comments during the conversation with DC coach Ricky Ponting in a video shared by the IPL social media handle X.

“My prediction for the last over of the match is that MS Dhoni will be batting. The crowd will be roaring and MSD  will hit a six to finish the match,” Hussey said in the video.

Ponting, on the other hand, hoped for DC skipper Rishabh Pant to finish off the game in the last over.

“What would I like to see? I would like to see Rishabh Pant on strike in the last over, Delhi with 12 to win and Rishabh hitting a boundary off the last ball to win the game for Delhi. I mean, that’d be the story that a lot of people would like to see. That’s the story that the DC fans would like to see. And I’m sure there’s the opposite story for the CSK fans,” said the DC coach.

Ponting has also hinted at inclusion of batter Prithvi Shaw in the playing XI for the match. The comments came as Capitals have lost two of their two games and currently are ninth on ten-team points table.

DC failed to defend 175 against Punjab Kings in their first match and lost the match by four wickets. In the second match, they allowed Rajasthan Royals to post 185/5 despite having them on edge at 36/3 in 7.2 overs. While chasing, DC lost the plot in the end overs and could manage only 173/5 despite Tristan Stubbs’ 23-ball 44 not out and lost the match by 12 runs.

For CSK, it’s all merry under new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, winning both their matches so far.
