Match Preview

The hosts will aim to bag two crucial points and get things going in this season of the Indian Premier League. While Cameron Green’s inclusion will boost their confidence against a spin-heavy KKR bowling attack, Dinesh Karthik’s form is a bonus for the home side lower down the order.

With a lot to look forward to following their previous home win against PBKS, RCB will bank on their pace attack to deliver against their old foes. While Mohammed Siraj and Alzarri Joseph would like to use their pace to their advantage, Yash Dayal’s opening spell will determine RCB’s fate.

However, the only department where they could face some trouble is the spin attack, which includes a lesser-experienced Mayank Dagar and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

On the other hand, the travelling KKR team are oozing with confidence following a win in their season-opener against SRH at home. Though the top order failed in their previous game, dangerous Andre Russell hogged all the limelight with his power-hitting, also returning with two wickets in the second innings.

Rinku Singh’s numbers from the last season (striking at 273.1 in overs 19 and 20 in all T20s since 2023) and Sunil Narine’s overall record against Virat Kohli and RCB Captain Faf du Plessis (Narine has dismissed both Virat (106 off 106, 4 dismissals) and Faf (37 off 47, 1 dismissal) are worth looking at.

Moreover, Mitchell Starc’s exploits in this crucial game will hold the key for Kolkata.

Kolkata leads Bengaluru 18-14 in the head-to-head record in IPL.

Coming down to the toss, any captain would like to chase at this venue, given its rich history of hunting targets.
