New Zealand’s captain Tom Latham has confirmed that their star fast bowler Tim Southee is fit and available for the critical World Cup match against India in Dharamsala. Southee had suffered a thumb injury during the ODI series against England leading up to the World Cup, which sidelined him for the first four matches of the tournament.

The much-anticipated clash between India and New Zealand is scheduled for October 22 at the HPCA Cricket Stadium. The Kiwi team has been on a tremendous four-match winning streak, securing victories against England, Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Their impressive performance places them at the top of the points table.

Tom Latham also provided an update on the injured Kane Williamson, revealing that he is in the process of recovering from a thumb injury. The team remains hopeful that Williamson will make a comeback later in the tournament, bolstering New Zealand’s chances in the World Cup.

“Yeah, obviously I definitely stayed up for the All Blacks and watched them. It was a great contest, obviously Kiwis support each other wherever that may be around the world and we’re certainly no different in supporting the All Blacks and obviously we’ve had so much support back home for us here and this World Cup as well,” Latham said in the pre-match press conference.

“So obviously great to see you know that they’re there for another week and good luck to them next week’s going to be a great contest and yeah Kane’ss obviously still nursing his thumb injury. It’s a day-by-day process with him as well. Fingers crossed he’ll be available for later on in the tournament. And in regards to Tim, he’s available for selection,” Latham added.

The Indian cricket team have produced remarkable in the four group matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup. India are currently riding a four-match winning streak, commencing with a victory against Australia and followed by triumphs against Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

However, India have faced a setback as their star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, is sidelined from the upcoming New Zealand encounter due to an ankle injury. Fortunately, Hardik is expected to make a comeback to the playing eleven when India faces England on October 29.
