Chauhan smashed 144 not out in 41 balls, hitting 18 sixes and six fours against Cyprus on Monday (June 17). His 27-ball ton is also the fastest in all T20s – going past Chris Gayle’s 30-ball hundred for Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Pune Warriors India in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013.

Chahan’s 18 sixes also the most by an individual in a men’s T20I, surpassing Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai’s 16 sixes against Ireland in 2019.

Chauhan reached the fifty in 14 balls – five short of world record set by Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee’s nine balls. The Estonia batter, however, brought carnage on Cyprus after that.

Chasing a total of 192, Estonia had a horrible start as they lost both their openers within first eight balls. The third wicket also fell inside powerplay before Chauhan took over the proceedings.

He was ably supported by Bilal Masud who scored 16-ball 21 as Estonia won the game in 13 overs with six wickets in hand.

This was the second game of the six-match bilateral series and Estonia now lead the series 2-0. They had chased down Cyprus’  195/7 in the first game to make a winning start of the series.

In the first match, Chauhan had gotten out for a first-ball duck, making his record-breaking century even more sensational.

Chauhan had made his international debut in 2023 and has played in four T20Is so far including Monday’s match against Cyprus.

In those four T20Is, Chauhan has scored 162 runs – most of which came from his record-breaking innings. His average is also 162 as the batter has been dismissed only once in four matches he has played so far.
