Miraz revealed that Bangladesh deliberately retained the same fast-bowling attack for all three matches of the series, believing it offered the best chance of success. The strategy worked as Bangladesh secured a 2-1 series victory during a challenging phase for the country’s cricket.
According to Miraz, sticking with a consistent bowling lineup was a calculated decision. While Bangladesh usually rotates fast bowlers to manage workload, the team management chose stability this time. Taskin, Mustafizur and Rana led the bowling unit throughout the series and played key roles in the final result.
The trio collectively claimed 19 wickets during the series at an average of 21.84. Nahid Rana made a significant impact in the opening match with a five-wicket haul, while Taskin Ahmed produced a standout performance in the deciding ODI by taking four crucial wickets.
Taskin’s spell in the decider set the tone for Bangladesh. He dismissed key Pakistan batters early, including Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Rizwan, reducing the opposition to 17 for 3. Later in the innings, he removed Faheem Ashraf and the in-form Salman Agha with a well-disguised slower delivery.
Miraz praised Taskin’s experience and ability to deliver in important moments, highlighting his understanding of match situations and his strong work ethic. The captain noted that Taskin’s breakthroughs were turning points in the match.
Mustafizur Rahman also played a vital role despite not taking a large number of wickets. Miraz commended his composure under pressure, especially when facing aggressive batting. Even after conceding boundaries, Mustafizur maintained his control and delivered important breakthroughs for the team.
Nahid Rana, who returned to the ODI side during the series, impressed with his pace and consistency. His five-wicket haul in the opening match helped Bangladesh bowl Pakistan out for just 114 runs, setting the tone for the series.
Miraz emphasized that Bangladesh are also focused on improving their ODI rankings, which are crucial for automatic qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Winning matches and series remains a top priority as the team looks to strengthen its position in international cricket.
With the pace trio performing consistently, Bangladesh appear confident about building a stronger bowling unit capable of delivering results in crucial matches.
