Afghanistan are set to host Sri Lanka for a six-match white-ball series in March 2026, marking the first time they will host Sri Lanka in a bilateral contest. The tour will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from March 13 to March 25 and will feature three T20 Internationals followed by three One-Day Internationals.

The T20I leg of the series will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on March 13, 15, and 17. The matches come just five days after the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on March 8, giving both teams limited time to reset before returning to international action. This will be only the second bilateral T20I series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, following their first meeting in February 2024.

The ODI series will then shift to the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, with games scheduled for March 20, 22, and 25. The timing of the 50-over leg is significant, as it concludes just one day before the start of the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League on March 26. Several players from both sides are part of franchise squads in these tournaments, which means a quick turnaround between international and league commitments.

Among the notable names likely to feature are Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka and Kusal Perera, along with Afghanistan stars Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad. Their participation will add further interest, especially with franchise scouts and fans closely watching performances ahead of the T20 leagues.

In ODIs, this will be the fourth bilateral series between the two teams after previous meetings in 2022, 2023, and 2024. As both sides continue to strengthen their white-ball squads, the March 2026 series offers an important opportunity to fine-tune combinations and build momentum before a packed international and franchise calendar.
