The techie-turned-bowler dismissed Protea opener Rezza Hendricks for his first wicket of the match with a length ball in the third over of the innings.

Hendricks, who’s having a forgettable tournament with the bat, sent the ball high up in the air which was pouched safely by Corey Anderson.

For his second wicket, Netravalkar dismissed Proteas skipper Aiden Markram at a time when the batter was getting dangerous for the USA.

Netravalkar bowled a full ball outside off, which Markram sliced to deep backward point but straight into the hands of Ali Khan who took a sharp catch.

Netravalkar now has six wickets in the tournament including four in the group stage where he dismissed likes of Virat Kohli, Muhammad Rizwan and Rohit Sharma. He finished with 2/18 in four against both India and Pakistan in group stage but went wicketless against Canada while the match against Ireland was washed out.

As for the match, USA won the toss and elected to bowl first. South Africa lost the first wicket early for just 16 runs in Hendricks but Quinton de Kock and Markram then stabilised the innings.

The duo added 110 runs for the second wicket before Harmeet removed de Kock (74 off 40) and David Miller (0) off consecutive balls in the 13th over.

Markram also departed soon at a team score of 141 with five overs left as USA bowlers brought SA’s run-rate in check.

Heinrich Klaasen (36 not out off 22) and Tristan Stubbs (unbeaten 20 off 16) then added 53 runs in the last five overs as SA finished with an above-par total of 194/4 in their 20 overs.
