The 2016 European champs Portugal will kick off their first match at UEFA Euro 2024 against Czech Republic or Czechia on Tuesday (June 18) in Group F.

The match, which will be played at Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena in Germany, has drawn plenty of intrigue around Roberto Martinez’s team, with many forecasting Portugal’s tight win against Czechia.

Cristiano Ronaldo will feature at his sixth European Championships when Portugal open its Euro 2024 campaign against the Czech Republic.

Although Ronaldo remains the focal point for fans, the rest of the Portugal team is also stacked and boasts a formidable attacking lineup with Barcelona’s João Félix, Paris Saint-Germain’s Gonçalo Ramos and Milan’s Rafael Leão, all providing options for Bruno Fernandes in midfield.

However, Czechia could prove to be a legit dark horse. 

They will be extremely tough to break down and they had an excellent qualifying campaign as they finished above Poland to reach the tournament. 

The Czech side even reached the quarterfinals at EURO 2020.

Tomas Soucek captains Czechia and West Ham’s midfield destroyer is the heartbeat of this team. 

Patrik Schick is the main man up top and had a great season with Bayer Leverkusen and this Czech side are more than capable of beating Portugal and it wouldn’t be much of an upset.
