“There is nothing I can say about Virat Kohli because I’m not Virat Kohli,” said Dube as quoted by PTI.
“His bad patch means he got out cheaply a couple of times but will come back scoring hundreds in the next three matches. We all know his game and how he plays,” the all-rounder added.
Dube himself found it hard to score runs in the ongoing tournament and match his IPL form of the last couple of seasons which got him in the squad. The all-rounder conceded that he was struggling with his form after batting failure against Ireland and Pakistan.
“I was struggling with my form and focusing on my process,” said Dube.
The all-rounder, however, played an important innings of 31 off 35 balls against USA to see the team through in a tricky chase as India sealed a spot in the knockout stage.
“There was no pressure. All the support staff and coaches backed me and told me, ‘It’s difficult, but you have the ability to hit sixes, so apply it.’
“I’ve never doubted myself for what I’ve done in the past. I just think that these conditions do not demand what I’ve done at CSK. These conditions require a different approach, so I was batting differently,” he added.
India’s last league match is against Canada on Saturday (June 15) but there’s around 85% chance of rain.
