The other four teams of Group 2 in the Super Eight stage are South Africa, USA, West Indies along with the second placed team of Group B, that is, England or Scotland.

In the league stage, India finished unbeaten with three wins before the washout against Canada. They started the campaign with a thumping win against Ireland – winning the match by eight wickets.

In the next group stage fixture, India beat arch-rivals Pakistan in emphatic manner. India snatched a win from the jaws of defeat as they restricted Pakistan to 113/7 in a chase of 120.

In their match against USA, India had a bit of scare in chase of 111 as they lost two quick wickets in skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli but emerged victorious eventually by seven wickets.

The game against Canada was a chance for India to test their bench strength before they move to West Indies for the knockout stage where spin may play a crucial role.

Indian spinners have bowled a total of nine overs in three league matches out of 56 bowled overall. The 2007 edition champion might also be wary of Kohli’s form.

The star batter, who has opened the batting in the tournament along side Rohit, has managed scores of 4, 1, and 0 in three matches.

India’s Super Eight fixtures will be played on June 20, June 22 and June 24 against Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Netherlands, and Australia, respectively.
