Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made a bright start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season having registered back-to-back wins against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT). During the opening match against RCB, Sameer Rizvi, signed for a whopping amount of $1 million (INR 8.4 crore) during the auctions in December was handed his debut cap. Having received his cap in the presence of MS Dhoni, Rizvi opened up on the dream and what it was like playing alongside the former India captain.

“It was a very nice feeling to be picked by CSK,” Rizvi said.
“It was my dream to meet and play with Mahi bhaiya. And, that dream was fulfilled. Apart from that, I really did not expect to get picked by CSK or any other franchise for this amount. But I think they [CSK] showed faith in me, so I really liked that. One thing that I like most about this team is everyone backs one another, all of them are very helpful; it is amazing,” he added.
In his opening two matches for CSK, Rizvi is yet to prove himself as he managed to score only 14 runs against GT while he did not get to bat against RCB on the opening night. He has been one of the brightest stars of the domestic format and scored 309 runs in 13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His performance did not go unnoticed and was signed by CSK in December.
CSK’s season so far
Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK have been in great form and currently sit top of the pile with two wins in two games. They have one of the balanced Playing XI’s in the tournament with a good blend of youth and experience. They will next take on Delhi Capitals on Sunday (Mar 31) and will look for a third consecutive win in the IPL 2024.
