Ronaldo’s contract was due to expire in June 2023, but things turned ugly after his interview with Piers Morgan where he criticised the club, its manager and owners.
After bidding goodbye to the United, Ronaldo joined Al Nassr. In the ongoing edition of the SPL, Ronaldo has scored 20 goals from 18 matches. Apart from lauding the tournament for its growth, the 39-year-old said that he didn’t regret his decision to move to the Middle East.

MY MOVE WAS A GOOD MOVE
“I believe they are going to be in the top three or four [leagues] in the world and, step by step, we are going to reach that. I thought [Saudi Arabia] would be a good move for me. Why not give a chance to another country, with my football and passion, to change mentalities? Why not? I’m capable of doing that. I’m not being arrogant; I said that one year ago,” Ronaldo was quoted as saying at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.
“Things change; the world changes, football changes, rules change. Everything changes. My move was a good move. I feel so happy; many players, coaches, directors, even nutritionists are moving there. The Saudis are in the process. It will take [a long time], but in life, we say, step by step, [to] reach the highest level,” Ronaldo said.
Al Nassr are currently placed second in the table with 46 points from 19 matches. They are only seven points behind Al-Hilal, who have the likes of Ruben Neves, Neymar and Aleksandar Mitrovic in their team.
Al Nassr are next scheduled to lock horns with Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday, January 24 at the Shenzhen City Stadium.
