Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Bangladesh have received a positive injury update ahead of their ODI series against Zimbabwe, with Litton Das expected to return for the second and third One-Day Internationals after recovering from a left calf injury.
Team physio Bayzedul Islam confirmed that Litton is dealing with a Grade I injury to his left calf muscle. According to the medical team, such injuries generally require two to three weeks for complete recovery. With two weeks of rehabilitation already completed, the Bangladesh camp is optimistic that the experienced wicketkeeper-batter will regain full fitness by the end of the third week.
Bayzedul stated that Litton’s chances of featuring in the first ODI are almost nil, but he is expected to be available for selection in the remaining two matches, provided he successfully passes all the required fitness tests.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh team manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed that Litton will arrive in Zimbabwe on July 1, while the rest of the squad has already reached the country ahead of the three-match ODI series.
Despite not being fully fit, Litton was included in Bangladesh’s ODI squad as the team management remains confident about his recovery timeline. The ODI series will be played after the ongoing one-off Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
The 30-year-old last represented Bangladesh during the home ODI series against Australia in mid-June. However, he was forced to miss the subsequent three-match T20I series, which Bangladesh lost 3-0, and was also unavailable for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe due to the same calf injury.
Bangladesh have also been boosted by the return of captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who rejoins the ODI squad after missing the third ODI against Australia following a concussion. Mehidy had also been rested for the Zimbabwe Test but is now set to lead the side in the upcoming 50-over series.
