The 41-year-old becomes the oldest T20 centurion as Texas Super Kings chase down 221 with nine balls to spare
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Faf du Plessis produced a record-breaking innings to power Texas Super Kings (TSK) to a stunning victory over the Seattle Orcas, overshadowing Tim Seifert’s century in a high-scoring season opener.
At 41 years and 340 days, du Plessis became the oldest player to score a T20 century, surpassing the previous record held by Paul Collingwood (41 years and 65 days). He reached his hundred in just 45 balls and remained unbeaten on a sensational 113 off 52 deliveries as TSK successfully chased 221 with nine balls remaining.
The chase was dominated by South African contributions. Rilee Rossouw set the platform with a blistering 49 off 21 balls, adding 95 runs for the second wicket with du Plessis in only 37 deliveries. Wiaan Mulder then finished the job with an unbeaten 31 from 15 balls.
Earlier, Seattle Orcas posted a formidable total after being asked to bat. Tim Seifert scored his sixth T20 century, making 104 off 66 balls, while Shayan Jahangir added 78 from 47 deliveries. The opening pair stitched together a massive 191-run partnership in 17.2 overs.
However, the Orcas’ innings lacked the acceleration TSK later displayed. Left-arm pacer Nandre Burger also played a key role with the ball, conceding just 27 runs in his four overs, including an economical 19th over that yielded only eight runs.
Du Plessis’ extraordinary knock ultimately proved the difference as TSK began their campaign with a statement victory.
