Chinelle Henry delivered a match-winning all-round performance as West Indies defeated Pakistan by 25 runs in the Women’s T20I tri-series in Ireland, strengthening their position at the top of the points table.

After being asked to bat first, West Indies posted an imposing 199 for 8, thanks to crucial contributions throughout the innings. Captain Hayley Matthews provided a flying start, smashing 40 off just 20 balls with seven boundaries before Diana Baig ended her aggressive knock in the fifth over.

Pakistan fought back through timely wickets, removing Deandra Dottin and Qiana Joseph in quick succession. However, Stafanie Taylor restored momentum with a fluent 39 from 23 deliveries, striking four fours and two sixes to keep the scoring rate high.

The decisive phase came in the closing overs when Chinelle Henry and Jannillea Glasgow combined for a blistering 65-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Their stand came in only 37 balls and lifted West Indies towards a challenging total. Henry finished unbeaten on 33, capping the innings with a six and a four off the final three deliveries.

Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the scoring, with both Fatima Sana and Diana Baig conceding more than 50 runs in their four-over spells.

Chasing 200, Pakistan never found the momentum required for such a steep target. Shawnisha Hector struck in the opening over to remove Gull Feroza, while Henry added another early breakthrough by dismissing Muneeba Ali for just 2.

Saira Jabeen attempted to revive the innings with a brisk 30 off 19 balls, including six boundaries, but her departure stalled Pakistan’s progress. Although several batters managed starts, none could build the substantial partnership needed to threaten the target.

Aliya Riaz emerged as Pakistan’s top scorer with 37 from 28 deliveries, but the chase gradually drifted away as wickets fell at regular intervals. Pakistan eventually closed on 174 for 8, falling 25 runs short.

West Indies’ bowling effort was marked by discipline and variety, with the team using eight different bowlers. Henry and Hector led the attack with two wickets each, ensuring Pakistan remained under pressure throughout the innings.

The victory gives West Indies consecutive wins in the tri-series after their opening triumph over Ireland and places them firmly at the top of the standings as they continue their strong start to the tournament.
