Zimbabwe will host South Africa Women for a historic five-match T20I series in September, marking the first-ever T20I meeting between the two sides and South Africa’s first women’s tour of the country.

The entire series will be played at Queens Sports Club, with matches scheduled for September 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19. All games are set to begin at 1:30pm local time.

The two teams have met only twice before in international cricket, both during an ODI quadrangular tournament in South Africa back in 2017.

Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni described the tour as a major opportunity for the growth of women’s cricket in the country.

He said facing one of the strongest teams in world cricket would give Zimbabwe’s players a valuable chance to challenge themselves against elite opposition in home conditions.

Makoni also stressed that the series reflects Zimbabwe Cricket’s continued commitment to investing in the women’s game and creating more opportunities for players at the international level.

Zimbabwe Women last hosted an international series in September-October 2025 against UAE. Since then, they have featured in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier and also toured New Zealand and Pakistan.

Following the South Africa series, Zimbabwe Women are scheduled to tour India for three T20Is and three ODIs — their first-ever women’s tour of India.
