Allround brilliance powers Falcons to dominant Vitality Blast win

Martin Andersson delivered a sensational all-round performance as Derbyshire demolished Leicestershire by 85 runs in a one-sided Vitality Blast clash.

After smashing a rapid 57 off just 29 balls, Andersson returned with the ball to claim six wickets and completely derail the Foxes’ chase.

Derbyshire piled up a massive 230 for 5 — just one run short of their all-time T20 record — thanks to explosive knocks from Aneurin Donald, Caleb Jewell and Andersson himself.

Donald set the tone early with a blistering 49 from 24 deliveries, while Jewell remained unbeaten on 58 off 35 balls to finish the innings in style. Derbyshire hammered 75 runs in the final five overs to put the game beyond reach.

In reply, Leicestershire’s chase collapsed almost instantly. They lost three wickets within the first 11 balls and never truly recovered.

Australian allrounder Ashton Turner briefly fought back with a stunning 53 from only 22 balls in a 92-run stand alongside Ben Cox, but Andersson struck at the perfect moment to end the resistance.

The allrounder removed both Turner and Cox in the same over before continuing his destruction with the ball, finishing with six wickets in a remarkable spell.

Leicestershire were eventually bowled out for 145 in just 15.2 overs, suffering their third defeat of the campaign as Derbyshire produced one of their most complete T20 performances in recent seasons.
