A high-stakes clash awaits as Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on Sunrisers Hyderabad with the battle for the IPL 2026 top-two spots reaching its final stage.

RCB currently sit at the top of the points table with 18 points and a healthy net run rate of +1.065, but Gujarat Titans’ massive 89-run victory over Chennai Super Kings has complicated the race for a top-two finish.

Gujarat Titans have already secured a top-two spot with an NRR of +0.695, leaving SRH needing a huge win over RCB to leapfrog them.

For Hyderabad to move into the top two while batting first, they would need to beat RCB by around 87-88 runs depending on the total posted. If chasing, they would need to complete the chase extremely quickly — for example, chasing 150 in just over 11 overs.

If SRH fail to achieve that margin, RCB and GT will officially lock in the top-two places and gain the crucial advantage of two opportunities to reach the final.

SRH will take confidence from their outstanding home form under lights this season. They remain unbeaten in night matches in Hyderabad, with all four of their home wins coming in evening games. Their only two defeats at the venue came during day fixtures.

RCB, meanwhile, have struggled away from home, with three of their four defeats this season coming on the road — something SRH will look to exploit.

The two teams previously met in Bengaluru earlier in the season, where RCB comfortably chased down 202. However, SRH were without captain Pat Cummins in that match and lacked bowling depth.

This time, Hyderabad enter the contest with a more balanced squad and stronger momentum, while RCB have received a boost with captain Rajat Patidar regaining fitness.

Patidar’s return, however, creates a selection headache for RCB given the recent form of Venkatesh Iyer, who has impressed in recent matches.
