Lewis remains Ireland’s most important batter heading into the tournament. Currently joint-14th in the ICC Women’s T20I batting rankings, she was also Ireland’s standout performer during the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Nepal earlier this year.

Ireland finished runners-up to Bangladesh women’s cricket team at the qualifiers, with Lewis emerging as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. She amassed 276 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 119.48, underlining her value at the top of the order.

Prendergast, ranked No. 26 among T20I batters and seventh among allrounders, will take charge of the side during the tri-series as Ireland carefully manage Lewis’ recovery ahead of the World Cup.

Young wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter, ranked No. 29 in the ICC T20I batting charts, is also expected to play a crucial role in Ireland’s campaign.
