Chasing survival on the final day, Worcestershire found themselves under pressure at 114 for 5 in their second innings, leading by just 103 runs with more than 40 overs still remaining in the match. However, D’Oliveira and Waite stood firm with an unbroken 97-run partnership that frustrated Lancashire’s bowlers and ensured the visitors safely closed on 211 for 5.

D’Oliveira remained unbeaten on 46 while Waite finished on 47 not out after a disciplined and composed display under difficult circumstances. Lancashire, despite dominating long periods of the game, had to settle for a draw and collected 12 points, while Worcestershire earned 11.

Rain delays earlier in the match had already reduced the chances of a result, and morning showers on the final day pushed back the start of play by 30 minutes. Lancashire declared immediately on their overnight score of 281 for 8, hoping to apply quick pressure with veteran seamer James Anderson leading the attack.

Worcestershire initially responded well as Dan Lategan and Jake Libby added 47 runs in fluent fashion, taking on Anderson and Tom Bailey with confidence. But Lancashire skipper Keaton Jennings turned the momentum by striking twice in quick succession. Libby was trapped lbw for 21 before Gareth Roderick departed for a second-ball duck after edging to slip.

Anderson bowled with impressive control and intensity throughout the innings, finishing with figures of 2 for 27 from 15 overs, though his spell deserved greater reward.

After lunch, Worcestershire suffered another setback when Kashif Ali gifted his wicket by chipping a full toss from Tom Hartley straight to midwicket. Two balls later, Hartley produced a superb delivery to bowl Adam Hose for a duck, leaving Worcestershire struggling at 90 for 4.

Dan Lategan continued to resist with a determined 48 before edging behind off Paul Coughlin, reducing the visitors to 114 for 5 and briefly raising Lancashire hopes of victory.

But from that point onward, D’Oliveira and Waite shut the door on the home side. The pair defended patiently, rotated the strike smartly, and gradually batted Lancashire out of the contest. By tea, Worcestershire had moved to 159 for 5 and the draw looked inevitable.

Despite Anderson’s efforts and Lancashire’s aggressive approach, the lost time due to rain ultimately proved decisive as Worcestershire held firm to deny the hosts victory.
